Wishbone is a 4 ½-year-old brown and white, smooth coat, male Jack Russell Terrier, quite the stocky shorty and very muscular at 17 pounds. Wishbone was adopted from a shelter as a puppy, and then returned when a toddler joined the family.
Wishbone is your typical JRT, high high energy, constantly looking for something to do, barks to get attention, but so very loving and affectionate. This adorable young Jack is housetrained; he rides beautifully in the car and is crate trained.
Wishy is quite dog selective, is fine around other dogs as long as they don’t bother him, and perhaps a very mellow female as a friend might work. JG thinks he might be best as an only dog.
This Jack walks beautifully on the leash, with a wonderful pace, sniffing the air while looking for chipmunks and other critters along the way and at the same time keeping up a lovely gait. He loves to chase the ball, runs around the agility field and would probably be very good at dog sports. Wishbone is extremely smart, and is a fun dog to have around.
After we got this adorable little Jack Russell from the shelter, we had a dental done where there were some extractions. Wishbone then went to an eye specialist for surgery to remove a cataract from his left eye and an intraocular lens implanted. The surgery went extremely well and his eye has healed brilliantly, but they did find a tear in the retina during the procedure. We will be speaking with our local eye surgeon to see whether more needs to be done.
